2024 Categories & Category Rules
These are the entry categories for 2024 as well as the specific rules pertaining to each category.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded by category.
Best-in-Show will be awarded for each Age Group.
A: Produce
Entry Subcategories:
- Vegetable, Fruit, Nut, Gourd, & Other
Entry Rules:
- Grown in last twelve (12) months in Fluvanna County
- Small items - please provide three (3) on a study paper plate
- Larger items - only one (1) item is needed
B. Flowers / Plants
Entry Subcategories:
- Cut Flower Arrangement, Sunflower, Potted plant grown from seed, & Other
Entry Rules:
- Flowers and seeds must have been grown or harvested in Fluvanna County.
- Please ensure cut flower arrangements and sunflowers are in a plastic vase with enough water for 2 days
C. Canned / Jarred Foods
Entry Subcategories:
- Fruit Preserve/Jam/Jelly, Sauce/Salsa/Relish, Pickled Vegetable, & Other
Entry Rules:
- Must have been canned/jarred in last twelve (12) months in Fluvanna County
- Pint or quart jars only (regular or wide-mouth jars are fine)
- Two-piece metal canning lid (flat lid & band) ONLY
- No one-piece screw-on lids permitted!
D. Baked Goods
Entry Subcategories:
- Bread, Pie, Cake, Candy, Cookie, & Other
Entry Rules:
- Entries will be tasted by judges - provide enough for 3 judges to taste
- Baked goods cannot be tasted by the public
E. Fine Arts
Entry Subcategories:
- Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Photography & Other
Entry Rules:
- Must be a representation of Fluvanna County life
- Must have been completed in the past twelve (12) months
- Cannot have been entered in this competition before
- Photographs should be matted. Unframed canvas is fine
F. Handmade Crafts
Entry Subcategories:
- Wood, Basketry, Jewelry, Metalcraft, Pottery, Quilting, Knitting/Crocheting, Lego© sculpture & Other
Entry Rules:
- Must have been completed in the past twelve (12) months
- Cannot have been entered in this competition before
- Lego© sculpture must be a representation of Fluvanna County life and can be no bigger than one (1) foot by one (1) foot
- Please mount small items like jewelry in an open box frame. Sorry, no glass art can be accepted
G. Animal Products
Entry Subcategories:
- Eggs, Honey, Fleece, Wool, Soap & Other
Entry Rules:
- Must be gathered or worked in Fluvanna County
- Must be fresh
- Cannot have been entered in this competition before
